The Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu has predicted a brighter future for the Centre, charging all members of staff to continue to join hands with his administration in the herculean task of building a virile and enviable hospital.
The Medical Director gave the charge at a meeting of the Hospital Management with Chairmen and Secretaries of Unions in the Centre.
Speaking against the background of the recent 27th anniversary of the Centre, Prof. Musa-Olomu expressed deep appreciation to the entire staff of the Centre for their dedication and commitment to duties, which according to him accounted for the strings of the Centre’s success stories.
Particularly, the Medical Director attributed the achievements of his administration in the last three years, attested to by numerous leadership awards conferred on him to the mercy of God and cooperation from all cadres of staff.
His words, “ As I always say, a tree does not make a forest. In that regard, I wish to thank you all for the arm of fellowship extended to this administration since we came on board.”
On the on-going projects, the Medical Director disclosed that some of them are nearing completion and will soon be handed over to the Management. He listed those projects as including, Tele-Medicine and Multipurpose Hall, Pharmacy ,Gymnasium and Patients Relatives Building.
The Medical Director was delighted that the two coaster buses his administration bought had being of immense benefit at this critical time, as they convey staff from their various destinations to work and back home.
Besides, the ATM facilities installed in the hospital premises had eased the banking transactions of staff and the host community while the business ventures were doing fine.
Prof. Musa-Olomu further hinted that but for the COVID 19, the full computerization of the Centre would have taken off.. He said however that work is in progress on the oxygen project.
The Medical Director took time to answer questions on some issues such as the disbursement of Drug Revolving Fund (DRF) and the withheld JOHESU April/May salaries
On the DRF, the Medical Director explained that the Management was guided in its action by an existing Federal Government Policy Paper on the matter. Copies were freely made available to every one at the meeting.
On the April/May JOHESU salaries, the Medical Director said his administration has not relented in ensuring that the government do the needful on the issue.
The Medical Director assured that the proposed University of Medicine and Medical Sciences will soon be a reality judging by enthusiasms, financially being shown by foreign investors.
Prof. Musa-Olomu urged members of staff to continue to support his administration for a better tomorrow.
“ My plan for this Centre is to make sure that I satisfy everybody across board. As long as I am here , I will continue to do my best to ensure that there is peace and justice.
I urge you all to continue to have absolute faith and trust in the present administration because I am here to serve you all and together, we shall attain the status of the health institution of our dream.”
